Amy Thompson

Amy Thompson joined the Highland Commercial Mortgage team in July 2022 as a MAP and LEAN Underwriter. She underwrites FHA-insured multifamily and healthcare loans for new construction, substantial rehabilitation, acquisition, and refinance. This includes both market rate and affordable properties.  Amy has over 25 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry.  Prior to transitioning to the finance side of commercial real estate, she was in commercial property management for 8 years.

Prior to joining Highland, Amy served as Senior Underwriter at NewPoint Real Estate Capital, for both MAP and LEAN.  Before that, she worked in Loan Servicing, Agency Lending, and FHA/HUD Lending platforms at Berkadia Commercial Mortgage for 12 years (note: during this span, the company was also part of Capmark and GMACCM), where in 2017, she became a MAP approved underwriter.  Amy also worked as a LEAN Analyst/Underwriter Trainee for Greystone Funding Corporation, and became an approve LEAN Underwriter in August 2021 at NewPoint Real Estate Capital.

Amy has been a Group Fitness Instructor and Pound® Pro for 6 years and enjoys teaching at a local gym.  She loves helping the members work towards their fitness goals while introducing them to new class formats that they normally wouldn’t try.  Amy and her husband, Sean, are big Disney fanatics, and try to get to Disney as much as they can.  When they can’t get to Disney, they camp and travel with their dog, Timber.
